Ingredients

  • 15 ounces canned chickpeas drained and rinsed
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 small cloves garlic peeled
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground paprika optional topping

Instructions

  • Add all the ingredients in a blender or food processor.
  • Blend for several minutes, scraping down the sides with a spatula periodically until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  • To serve, spread the hommus on a plate.
Spread the ground paprika on a small plate. Press the back of a fork in a little water or olive oil, then press it in the paprika. Press and drag the back of the fork through the edge of the hummus on four corners to create a pretty design with the seasoning.
    Enjoy!!

Notes

  • If you choose to cook dried chickpeas, add about half a teaspoon of baking soda to the cooking water. This will soften the chickpea skins as they cook, so your hommus will be extra smooth.
  • If raw garlic upsets your stomach, use ¼ teaspoon garlic powder instead.
  • If your hommus is too thick, add one or two tablespoons of cold water as you blend the ingredients together.
  • Blend in ¼ cup tahini for an extra creamy texture and authentic flavor.
