Add all the ingredients in a blender or food processor.
Blend for several minutes, scraping down the sides with a spatula periodically until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
To serve, spread the hommus on a plate. Spread the ground paprika on a small plate. Press the back of a fork in a little water or olive oil, then press it in the paprika. Press and drag the back of the fork through the edge of the hummus on four corners to create a pretty design with the seasoning. Enjoy!!
Notes
If you choose to cook dried chickpeas, add about half a teaspoon of baking soda to the cooking water. This will soften the chickpea skins as they cook, so your hommus will be extra smooth.
If raw garlic upsets your stomach, use ¼ teaspoon garlic powder instead.
If your hommus is too thick, add one or two tablespoons of cold water as you blend the ingredients together.
Blend in ¼ cup tahini for an extra creamy texture and authentic flavor.
