These brownie chips have the rich chocolatey taste of classic brownies, but the texture of those coveted edges and corners in every bite. Spread thin on a baking sheet, they take only 10 minutes to bake, and taste way better than store bought brownie brittle.

Brownie Brittle Chips Are My Go-To Dessert Now

Okay, these brownie chips taste like crispy biscuits with a decadent brownie twist! My family enjoys them as a little sweet treat literally throughout the entire day, from a good dunk in our morning coffee to dessert with tall glass of cold milk. And don't even get me started on how good these taste crumbled onto ice cream!

Melted semi-sweet chocolate chips (or dark chocolate if you're feeling fancy) get mixed into the brownie batter along with Dutch processed cocoa powder for a rich (not bitter) flavor.

And once you're in brownie-mode, I recommend my Black Forest chocolate brownies next, topped with cherries, whipped cream, and chocolate shavings!

Let's Bake Brownie Crisps!

Melted chocolate, vegetable oil, and an egg mixed in a mixing bowl.
First, mix the wet ingredients & chocolate chips until it's smooth.
Cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and flour sprinkled in a glass mixing bowl.
Then sprinkle on the dry ingredients.

Stir until it's combined, it'll be thick!

Bake, slice, cool, and enjoy!

My Tips for Sheet Pan Brownies

  • Lining your baking sheet with parchment paper will help the brownie crisps be removed from the pan more easily. But it can also make spreading the batter more tedious, so I usually just grease my baking sheet really well.
  • Watch your brownie crisps closely in the oven. Since the batter is spread so thin, they bake really fast. You may need to adjust the baking time since there are variations between ovens.
  • Cut your brownie crisps as soon as they come out of the oven while they're still soft. Once they cool, they'll harden and crack if you try to cut them.

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet

Ingredients

  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt (use fine sea salt or table salt)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Generously grease a 9-inch by 13-inch baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  • Place the chocolate chips in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds then stir for a few seconds. Repeat microwaving and stirring until the chocolate chips are melted.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted chocolate, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla until it's smooth.
  • Add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt on top. Mix with a spatula or large spoon just until there is no dry flour visible. The batter will be much thicker than normal brownie batter.
  • Spread the brownie batter onto the baking sheet with a spatula or the back of a spoon in an even layer, about ½-inch thick.
  • You want the batter to be spread as evenly as possible. Otherwise the thinner parts could burn and the thicker parts might remain chewy.
  • Bake for 10 minutes, just until the top dries. Use a butterknife to slice the crisps into pieces while the brownies are still warm and soft. Allow to cool for at least 10 minutes, until they become crispy. Enjoy!!

Notes

  • Storing: Store leftover brownie crisps in an airtight container at room temperature, since they soften if they go in the fridge.

I love how easy and quickly these bake up! I made these for my kids and love packing them for a fun little treat in the lunch boxes. I love that they're not thick and have the perfect crisp texture (they're pretty hard to resist).

I made these for an ice cream sundae party and they were perfect! Sometimes a whole brownie is too rich for me, but these thin and crispy brownie slices totally hit the spot!

I'm the only one in my family who likes the fudgy centers of the brownies. They all like the crispy corners, which I think is so weird! LOL So I made them these brownie crisps, and they went wild over them! Seriously, they were gone in a single day, and they're begging me to make them more! XP Thanks for sharing this recipe!

I haven't been able to find brownie brittle in the store for a while now, so I tried this homemade version, and I don't think I'll go back to the store bought version anymore! These were so delicious, and I added some extra chocolate chips on the batter before baking them for even more chocolate flavor. Delish!
