This past summer, my husband and I got married! The day after our wedding, we flew from Oregon to Florida to spend our honeymoon in Disney World and Universal Studios. We had a blast!!! We were like two energetic kids, running around the parks, riding all the rides, eating every churro, and falling in love all over again. It was definitely a trip of a lifetime. 💖 Plus, I had fun picking my Disney World outfit ideas each day, and I wanted to share them with you. There’s an art to packing for a theme park trip, so keep reading for all my tips. 😉

I don’t know about you, but I always get cold on airplanes. Therefore, I recommend to wear long comfy pants and a sweater or jacket. Of course, if you have a Disney-themed sweater, even better! It may be the only time you wear it, since Florida is often very hot and humid.

We spent our first full day at Magic Kingdom, because why not start out with a bang!? Magic Kingdom was the first park that opened in Disney World back in 1971. And it’s where you can find all your favorite Disney characters. I wore glittery bridal-themed Minnie ears along with a fun Mickey tie-dye shirt and denim shorts.
Now, while denim shorts look cute and go with almost everything, they are not the most practical material to wear. If you get wet on a ride (or sweaty from the heat and humidity) then your denim will take hours to dry out. And when denim gets wet, it can feel heavy and uncomfortable. I would recommend instead wearing breathable material like cotton, linen or nylon.

Epcot might have been our favorite park of all the Disney World parks. Yes, I know, that’s a bold statement. But the food alone was incredible! For this epic day, I wore a vintage-inspired Mickey Mouse tee, gigantic Minnie Mouse bow ears and cute brown shorts. The shorts are made of a fabric called lyocell, which is a type of rayon. This fabric is super breathable and when it got wet, it dried out in half an hour. I definitely recommend shorts like these over denim for Florida’s theme parks.

I couldn’t find anywhere online that sells the giant Minnie bow headband except resale online shops like eBay and Poshmark. But I found mine at a major discount at Ross, which is a popular store here in the U.S.
Let me fill you in on a little secret – Animal Kingdom is often the hottest park of all. The dense foliage creates a rainforest effect, raising the humidity and temperature nearly 10 degrees hotter than the other Disney parks. Therefore, dress accordingly! I wore my go-to breathable shorts, which reminded me of a safari aesthetic – very fitting for Animal Kingdom. I paired them with a lightweight cotton Mickey t-shirt and the cutest Mickey ears ever, themed after Marie from Disney’s Artistocats! 😻

Disney Blizzard Beach Water Park
Yes, Disney World also has water parks!! 🌊 We had so much fun at Blizzard Beach Water Park, which is themed as if a snow storm hit Florida. There is fake snow, snowmen and skis all over the water park. And there’s even a ski lift you can ride up to the top of some of the water slides! I wore this retro Minnie-inspired bathing suit, along with a breathable summer dress. Slather on the sunscreen, grab a pair of sunglasses and you’re ready to go! 😎

Bonus: Universal Studios
After all our fun at the Disney Parks, we spent two days at Universal Studios, primarily for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! As a fan (fanatic?) I donned on all my best gear: a cotton Hogwarts tee, a time-turner necklace and a knitted Ravenclaw scarf. Paired with denim shorts, comfy walking shoes and my wand, I was ready to practice spells and brew some potions!

What Else to Pack
While it’s vitally important to pack functional (and cute) outfits for your park days, here are some other items I recommend packing.
– Handheld fan, for when you’re hot waiting in lines for rides and food
– Extra sunscreen, in case you get wet and it washes off
– Extra pair of socks, in case yours get wet
– Ponchos, especially if you go during Florida’s hurricane season from June through November
– Water-resistant or water-proof backpack (we brought a camelback which was a lifesaver to always have drinking water on hand)
– Gallon-sized Ziplock bags for your phone, wallet and keys on water rides. You can also put leftover snacks in these bags like popcorn to eat later.
